Twitter not hacked – database bug

So yes – I did get a little excited yesterday with the strange occurrences in my Twitter-verse that led me to believe they had been hacked – even to the extent that I sent my post link to TechCrunch for investigation. Alas they did not – but Twitter was very good in replying.

Message came in today as follows:

It’s not a hack, just a database bug. We’re working on fixing it.

Well that clears that up. But in the big picture now that Twitter mania has taken hold the guys really do have their work cut out for them.

I am sure we all hope they succeed.

I even heard a 5FM DJ last night say he was going to Tweet his thoughts (unedited) while he did his show. How very cool as an example of a mixed media mashup : )

I will only really get concerned when my parents – who by the way joined Facebook today – start following me on twitter.
