Has Twitter been hacked?

So, naturally I was elated that I had 2 more requests to follow me on Twitter – but then it all became a little strange.

When I received a request from “startameliaup” and accepted it – the confirmation read that “Fundraising_Now” would now receive all my updates! (Image 1)

Just to check if the system had at the very least accepted the confirmation to “startameliaup”, I visited her page. The notification box on her page confirmed that I had not yet accepted her as a follower. I then accepted locally from her page and shazaam! – I was not notified that “Fairygodess” will now receive my updates. (Image 2)

Something is Phishing here.

I am contacting Twitter immediately because it looks pretty certain they have been hacked – even though they are probably asleep : ) – It is also possible it is a major bug and some techies better get grafting quickly as the world descends after Opera had her first tweets last week.
